Rick’s Café Sunset Excursion in Negril

Reggae music fills the summer air, the Red Stripe is flowing, and cliff divers are making their final jumps of the day into the glassy water below. At Rick’s Café, the sunset isn’t something you watch in passing; it’s a sensory experience. This sunset demands your attention. Set along Negril’s striking West End Cliffs, this hidden gem opens up to the crashing waves of the Caribbean Sea.

A Legendary Negril Cliffside Encounter

Negril was initially a quiet village, known for fishing, being the “Capital of Casual,” and of course for Seven Mile Beach -beloved for its powdery white sand and turquoise waters, but the West End cliffs offered something else entirely. The cliffs of the West End were rugged and dangerous, attracting local thrill-seekers, making it a hotspot for cliff diving.

Rick’s Café showed travelers a different side of Negril. What was once a simple gathering place quickly became somewhere that locals, travelers, sunset spotters, and adventurous spirits could come together. By word of mouth, the love for Rick’s grew. Visitors came for the scenery and cliff diving, but stayed for the sunsets, and left with stories they couldn’t wait to share.

Eventually, curiosities became rituals. Decades later, that ritual became tradition. Today, the Rick’s Café sunset excursion in Negril is a bucket-list experience for resort guests, making it one of the most classic ways to spend an evening in Jamaica.

What to Expect at Rick’s Café Negril

At Rick’s, you’ll find a blend of laid-back island vibes, local flavors, and the excitement of watching the high dives. The cliff diving spectacle is still one of the biggest reasons travelers visit. Rick’s Café is known for its local and professional divers, who launch from platforms above the sea, all the way up to the trees, making it part of Negril’s identity.

Beyond the diving, you can savor comfort foods like Red Stripe Beer Battered Shrimp, Jamaican Style Braised Oxtail, Banana Bread Pudding for dessert, and refreshing sunset blends.

As the evening rolls in, the crowd assembles along the cliffs, and the sky starts its show. This is the kind of unforgettable moment that belongs in every Jamaica travel story.

A crowd of people gathered on cliffside viewing decks waiting for the sunset over the ocean.
