How many rooms does Sunset at the Palms have?

The resort offers 85 treehouse-style, elegantly appointed guest rooms and suites on 10-acres of lush landscaping, a design praised by Architectural Digest.

Does Sunset at the Palms have rooms facing the ocean?

All 85 rooms are located in the gardens of the resort with a tropical garden view.

What is the difference between a Standard Treetop and a Deluxe Treetop Room?

Standard Treetop rooms border the road separating the gardens from the beach property of the hotel. Deluxe Treetop are located further into the gardens and along the Royal Palm Preserve. The rooms themselves and all amenities are the same. All treetop rooms accommodate a maximum of two adults. Space does not allow adding a rollaway bed.

What is the layout of the One Bedroom Treetop Suite?

Sunset at the Palms offers 3 One-Bedroom Treetop Suites. These two level suites have a lounge with two daybeds, TV, large veranda and a full bath on the ground floor. The second level, accessed by a staircase containing consisting of about 12 steps, offers a master bedroom with a king size bed, TV, desk, a large balcony and another full bathroom. One-bedroom Treetop Suites accommodate a maximum of 4 adults.

Can I request a specific room?

While the resort cannot guarantee requests, we try our very best to accommodate all special room requests.

Does Sunset at the Palms offer rooms with two beds?

Most of the treehouses at Sunset at the Palms have king-size beds, but we do have a very limited number of rooms with two double beds. Please request this type of bedding as soon as your reservation is confirmed and we will do our best to accommodate this request.

How do I get into my treehouse?

Our treehouse-style Standard and Deluxe accommodations are about 8 feet above the ground and are accessed by a staircase containing 10-12 steps. Our One Bedroom Treetop Suites have four steps into the suite and a staircase of 12 steps leading to the second floor master bedroom.

Are children allowed to stay at Sunset at the Palms?

Sunset at the Palms is an ADULTS-ONLY resort.

What age does Sunset at the Palms consider as an adult?

Sunset at the Palms accepts adult guests aged 18 and above.

Do you offer handicap accessible rooms?

No, currently this resort does not offer handicap accessible rooms.

What time is check-in and check-out?

The resort offers a 3pm check-in; however, if rooms are ready before this time, guests will have access at no extra charge. Check-out time is 11:00am. Late check-out will be accommodated at a nominal fee and is based on availability. Guests are welcome to enjoy the facilities after checkout to accommodate evening flights.

What is included in my package?

Sunset at the Palms is an all-inclusive resort and offers the following: Air-conditioned accommodations in an intimate “treehouse-style” guestroom with private balcony; all meals with a choice of buffet dining, beach grill and a la carte restaurants. Premium beverages and cocktails at any of our 3 bars, plus our swim up bar and coffee bar. A variety of non-motorized water sports, air-conditioned fitness center, daytime activities and evening entertainment including live reggae music several evenings each week, complimentary WIFI, and weekly cocktail party hosted by resort management and staff.

Does Sunset at the Palms have a beach?

Sunset at the Palms offers an authentic Jamaican retreat nestled in tropical, towering gardens lush with vibrant flowers and exotic birds, paired with direct access to one of Jamaica’s most stunning and serene beaches. Just a short, two-minute walk from the lobby, you can stroll across to our exclusive beachfront club, where crossing guards ensure a safe passage. Does Sunset at the Palms offer a web check-in service?

Yes – Sunset at the Palms invites our guests to check-in online from the comfort of your home or office at least 24 hours prior to arrival. Pre-check-in allows our guests take advantage of the following opportunities

Is WIFI available at Sunset at the Palms?

Complimentary WIFI is available in all rooms and most public areas around the resort.

What is a Personal Sunset Concierge?

All guests are assigned a Personal Sunset Concierge upon check-in. Your Personal Concierge is your go-to person for assistance with making dinner reservations, arranging special occasions, booking excursions or assistance with any challenge you may encounter while on property.

What type of entertainment is offered in the evenings?

In keeping with the laid-back vibe of Sunset at the Palms, our evening entertainment is also low-key. In our Irie Martini bar, Paul, our very popular “piano-man,” serenades our guests with a variety of favorites and encourages sing-alongs several evenings a week. Other evenings include performances by a reggae band. For more active, late-night entertainment, guests are encouraged to try Margaritaville or other nearby night clubs.

How many bars and restaurants are at Sunset at the Palms?

The resort has 5 restaurants and 3 bars.

Does Sunset at the Palms offer room service?

Room Service is available from 7 am to 9 pm daily. Menu choices are from the menus offered in the Palm Grove Buffet dining room for that day and can be obtained by calling the concierge. Room service food is part of our all-inclusive offerings, however, there is a service charge for delivery of US15.00 per delivery.

Is there late-night food available?

Although most of our guests tend to retire early, we do have light sandwiches and desserts available until 1:00 AM.

Is there a Spa at Sunset at the Palms?

Yes, our Spa, Ginger Lily, is open every day from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Spa services are not part of the All-inclusive package.

How do I book hotel/airport transfers?

Sunset at the Palms does not include the airport transfers in our packages. Most tour operators do include the airport transfers in the package pricing. Guests can book private, direct transfers that go directly to Sunset at the Palms without stopping at other hotels on our shop page.

Can I book off-property tours/excursions at the resort?

Yes – Your Personal concierge can help set up catamaran cruises, snorkeling trips, shopping and Rick’s Café excursions, YS Falls and the Black River Safari day trips and much more. You can view our offerings and book on our shop page.

Does Sunset at the Palms offer wedding and honeymoon packages?

Yes we do! At Sunset at the Palms, there are stunning wedding venues for every taste including Private Beach, Tropical Gardens and Garden Gazebo. Whether it’s a romantic, private ceremony for the two of you or you want to celebrate with friends and family, we can accommodate groups of most sizes. Our Wedding Concierge will work with you to curate the perfect wedding, starting with finding the perfect setting for you to start your new life together. Select from a range of Wedding Ceremony Packages including minister’s fee, bridal bouquet, groom’s boutonniere, sparkling wine and wedding cake. Are there any recommended items to bring with me for my holiday?

We recommend that you bring sunscreen. We are set amidst tropical gardens and while we spray for insects daily, insect repellant is a good idea. If you want to have daily use of an inflatable flotation device, we recommend that you bring your own. Many guests do leave them behind for the use of all, however not in quantity for all guests.

What is the dress code at Sunset at the Palms?

Casual resort attire including shorts and sundresses is recommended. We ask that cover-ups be worn for daytime dining. Elegant resort attire (shirts and dressy shorts or pants for men and sundresses or dressy pant outfits for women) is requested for the Lotus Leaf Restaurant and Chef’s Showcase dining experiences

What credit cards are accepted at Sunset at the Palms?

Sunset at the Palms accepts all major international credit cards – VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS & DISCOVER. In addition, all locally issued debit and credit cards are accepted. (The resort does not accept Diners Club.)

Is there a gift shop at Sunset at the Palms?

Sunset at the Palms does have a small gift shop in the lobby area offering snacks, sunscreen, insect repellant and other toiletries, as well as a variety of clothing.

Is there an ATM on property?

Sunset at the Palms has cashier services for changing the currency of your home country into Jamaica dollars. There is not an ATM located at the hotel, but one is found a short cab ride away and transportation to the ATM can be arranged with your Personal Concierge.

Is smoking allowed at Sunset at the Palms?

Yes, please see below information for understanding the Jamaican Laws which govern the smoking of tobacco and marijuana, as well as vaping at Sunset at the Palms.

All 85 rooms at Sunset at the Palms are non-smoking. There is a designated smoking area. Smoking, including vaping, outside of the designated area is strictly prohibited.

1. Marijuana

It is a criminal offense to be in possession of more than 2 oz. of ganja. Offenders can be arrested, charged, tried in court and if found guilty sentenced to either a fine or imprisonment or both. This will result in a criminal record.

2. Medical Marijuana

Tourists or visitors to Jamaica who reside overseas may apply for a permit which is issued by Jamaica’s Ministry of Health, where a fee is payable to allow them to lawfully purchase and possess up to 2oz of ganja at a time, for either medical or therapeutic purposes. To obtain this permit, visitors will need to produce evidence that their use of ganja has been either recommended or prescribed by a licensed Medical Practitioner, in the country where they live.

3. Tobacco/Cigarette

There is a comprehensive ban on tobacco and cigarette smoking as well as vaping in indoor public places, indoor work places and public transport. ln addition to this, the law also prohibits the smoking in several outdoor places within 5 meters of entrances, exits, windows and ventilation intakes of a public place, workplace or public transport.

A person who smokes in public cannot be arrested or detained. However the Police may issue a ticket to that person, who will have up to 30 days to pay J$500 at any tax office. For this
reason we have designed special designated areas for you to enjoy this product.

Failure to pay a Ticket

It is an offense to fail to pay a ticket that has been issued for either smoking in public or for possession of 2oz or less or ganja. The offender will be required to attend the Petty Sessions Court and may be ordered to do Community Service. Where Community Service cannot be arranged, there will be a fine of J$2,000.00. 4. ln addition to the above, it is important to note that smoking of ganja will be legally permitted in places that are licensed for the smoking of ganja for either medical or therapeutic purposes. Adherents of the Rastafarian faith will also be permitted to smoke ganja for sacramental purposes in locations REGISTERED, as places of Rastafarian worship. The Sunset at the Palms Resort & Spa is not licensed in any way for the smoking of ganja, nor is it registered as a place of Rastafarian worship. No smoking of Ganja or Marijuana is permitted anywhere on the property.

What do we do in the event of a Hurricane?

What are the COVID protocols at Sunset at the Palms?

As of April, 2022, the government of Jamaica has lifted all testing requirements to enter Jamaica. The wearing of masks is no longer mandatory, but guests are certainly encouraged to do so if it makes them more comfortable. The same applies to our staff. Hand sanitizers are located around the property and the frequent washing of hands is still encouraged. We continue our high standards of cleaning and hygiene around the property and our unique treehouse layout provides natural social distancing.
